White Oak American Legion Post 701, 2813 Capital St., White Oak, will sponsor an oldies dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Aug. 25. Admission is $5 per person. All proceeds benefit veterans programs. Music from the ’50s and ’60s performed by Candy and Mike. For more information, call 724-984-6611.
Local Marines will recognize the centennial anniversary of women serving within their ranks in the U.S. Marine Corps at 11 a.m. Aug. 25 at Greene County Memorial Park, 1003 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg. Staff Sgt. Lucille E. McClarren was the first woman enlisted in the Marines during WWII. The upcoming ceremony coincides with what would have been her 96th birthday. The 36th Annual Mason-Dixon Frontier Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 25 and 26. Admission is free. The festival features an antique engine show, antique car display, vendors, food and an open air church service at 9 a.m. Aug. 26. Veterans and their spouses eat and drink free at the pavilion both days. No pets permitted. To find the festival grounds,Take 1-79 to exit 1 Mt. The 22nd Annual Shadyside…the Art Festival on Walnut Street returns Aug. 25 and 26, with 150 regional and national artists displaying fine jewelry, works of art and hand-crafted apparel and decor.
