Housing inventory was down in the Pittsburgh region in July, but there was a positive development in Washington County, the national real estate company RE/MAX said in its monthly report.

Pittsburgh had a three-month supply of inventory, which was down 36.17 percent from July 2017. Washington County, however, had the highest median home price in the Pittsburgh region – $185,500, an 11.7 percent jump year over year. Homes in the county also sold 15 days faster this July.

Regionally, there were 2,603 closed transactions last month, down 12.97 percent from the previous July. The median sales price was up 6.73 percent, to $172,900, and days on the market increased 4.17 percent to 50. Allegheny County had the most home sales in June – 1,525 – a 13.0 percent bump.

Nationwide, home sales rose 1.8 percent last month compared with July 2017. That ended a seventh-month stretch of year-over-year declines. Prices increased for the 228th months in a row.
