Coal queen pageant returns
The 65th Annual State Bituminous Coal Queen Pageant will be held at Carmichaels Area High School Sunday. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the pageant begins at 7. Admission is $10.
Coal Queen candidates are Micaela Ricco, Sara Ann Hornick, Abigail Claire Rocks, Joelle Pahanish, Lauren Zelnis, Destinie Olesko, Raegan Paige Crofcheck, Eden Rogers, Holly Lesko and Sarah Rose Blackstone.
The pageant is part of the 65th Annual Pennsylvania Bituminous Coal Show, which runs from today through Aug. 25 at the Carmichaels & Cumberland Twp. Vol. Fire Co., 420 W. George St., Carmichaels.
The celebration of heritage, community, family and the legacy of the Southwest Pennsylvanian Coal Mining Industry is sponsored by the King Coal Association, a nonprofit organization, with profits from the King Coal Show donated to its three member organizations: Carmichaels Area Chamber of Commerce, Carmichaels-Cumberland Twp. Volunteer Fire Company and Carmichaels Lions Club.
