Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) has announced that Presbyterian SeniorCare Network recently received a $100,000 grant to help build the organization’s capacity through its Woodside Place of Washington Capital Campaign, a campaign to raise funds to construct an assisted living facility specializing in Alzheimer’s and dementia care and services. The grant was awarded from the foundation’s Community CARE Fund.

Presbyterian SeniorCare Network is a non-profit regional network providing a continuum of living and care options for older adults. Its Woodside Place of Oakmont was the nation’s first residential community specifically designed to meet the physical, mental and social needs of persons living with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. The Woodside Place of Washington facility will feature 36 resident rooms, open communal spaces for socialization, spacious dining areas and a specially designed space for Adult Day services.

“The seniors in our care will be the true beneficiaries of this incredible support from the WCCF’s Community CARE Fund. As the number of persons living with Alzheimer’s disease grows, so does the impact on our community’s ability to provide appropriate levels of care. This exciting building project will create a dementia-specific residential care facility on our Washington campus, creating new opportunities to help individuals who are living with the disease,” said Jacqueline S. Flanagan, Presbyterian SeniorCare Foundation executive director.

Lynne Stout, chair of the WCCF Board of Trustees, said, “Washington County is home to a particularly high senior population; therefore, the need for local facilities such as Woodside Place of Washington is only expected to grow in the coming years. Through the Community CARE Fund’s support of this capital campaign, we hope to provide Presbyterian SeniorCare Network with an opportunity to grow and serve more people seeking its innovative health care services for older adults.”
