Car seat safety checks by certified car seat technicians will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Peters Township Fire Department, 245 East McMurray Road, McMurray. There is no charge for this service. To schedule an appointment, call 724-941-4176.
Peters Township Parks & Recreation will hold Parents’ Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at the center located at 700 Meredith Drive, Venetia. Drop off your kids, ages 5 to 10 years, at the Rec Center for a night of holiday-themed gym games, activities and pizza. Gym shoes are suggested. Cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Preregistration is required online at peterstownship.com or at the Rec Center, by Dec. 13.
The Kiwanis Club of Washington invites children 10 and under to a free breakfast with Santa Claus from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Penn Commercial Business/Technical School on Oak Springs Road in Washington. Kiwanis Club members will cook pancakes and sausage for Santa and his guests, including bunnies from a local 4-H member. Photo opportunities will be available; bring a camera. Cost for older children and adults is $5 and includes food, juice, coffee or other beverages. Each person who purchases a breakfast will receive a raffle ticket for a Christmas wreath.
FISH (Faithful in Serving Him) Clan Youth Group will meet from 1:11 to 3:33 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Fort Burd Presbyterian Church, Route 166, 200 Thornton Road, Brownsville. This once-a-month ecumenical ministry is hosted by various congregations in the Brownsville Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) and led by volunteers. It is open to everyone – free of charge – and youth ages 11-17 are welcome. You do not have to be a member of a congregation in order to participate. On Sunday, Dec. 9, the Bentworth Ministerium Community Choir will share its Christmas Cantata “Journey of a King” at 7 p.m. at the Christian Assembly of God Church, 100 Meadow St., Bentleyville). This is a free event.
Heaven Bound Ministries, in association with the First Church of the Nazarene and the Rolling Meadows Church of God, will offer two free Christmas concerts on Sunday, Dec. 9, in the sanctuary of the First Church of the Nazarene, 115 Deerfield Lane, Waynesburg. The first concert will consist of live instrumental Christmas selections by the Heaven Bound Band. It will take place at 5:30 p.m. At 6 p.m., the approximate 40-voice choral group will begin its portion of the evening’s ministry event.
