South Fayette choir marks 200 years of ‘Silent Night’

Members of the South Fayette High School choir sang contemporary and Christmas selections Dec. 7 at “Weihnachtsfeier,” a gathering of the Deutsch Amerikanischer National Kongress Pittsburgh Chapter at the Tuetonia Mannerchor hall on the North Side. They led Pittsburgh members and guests from DANK’s Cleveland Chapter in both English-language and German carols, including “Stille Nacht,” (“Silent Night”) which was composed 200 years ago this Christmas in Oberndorf, Austria. The vocalists were accompanied on piano by music teacher Christine Elek. Pictured with St. Nicholas are, Ariel Radinovic, seated; and standing, Sam Schuler and Sreya Dey.
