Pittsburgh South Hills Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 2213 will host a Christmas Party today at the Southwest Veterans Home. There are 248 veterans at the home, each of whom submitted a wish list. Everything on each of the veterans wish list was purchased and all gifts wrapped. Gifts will be delivered today and distributed to the veterans during a Christmas party during which cupcakes, ice cream and beverages will be served. There will also be bingo with prizes.
The West Newton Library is holding a Fill a Brown Bag for $5 book sale in its back room during regular library hours, until all books are gone. Ask the volunteer at the desk for a bag. The library is located at 124 N. Water Street. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday and Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For information, call 724-633-0798.
St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela is selling Christmas nut rolls. Nut, apricot and poppy seed rolls are available for $13 each and can be purchased at the church rectory. To purchase the homemade rolls, call 724-258-7742.
United Community Federal Credit Union will hold a holiday open house from 8:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at its new Canonsburg office located at 201 West Pike Street. Light refreshments will be served.
