Penn State Extension will offer Cooking for Crowds: A Volunteers Guide to Safe Food Handling Tuesday at the Penn State Extension Office on West Beau Street, Washington. Learn up-to-date methods for preparing food for large groups that is safe and of high quality. To register, call 1-877-345-0691.

Mon-Yough Chapter 3 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology will meet Thursday n Room 203 of Frich Hall on the campus of California University of Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Black Media Federation is calling for entries for its 30th annual Robert L. Vann Media Awards, which will recognize professional excellence in print, photography, broadcast and online coverage of African-American and African Diaspora communities, individuals and issues of Western Pennsylvania. The entry deadline for the professional contest is 11:59 p.m. Feb. 21. All entries must have been published, posted online, or broadcast in 2017. Rules and instructions for entering the contest – open to all news professionals in 29 counties of Western Pennsylvania – are available at www.pbmf.org.
