The Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer a Needle and Yarn Craft Workshop at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Mingo Creek Park office. There will be a potluck, bring a covered dish and recipe. Refreshments and dessert will be provided. Cost is $2. Preregistration is required and can be made by calling 724-228-6867.
Tri County Borough Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Donora Borough Municipal Building, 603 Meldon Ave. A meal will be served at 7 followed by the business meeting and a guest speaker.
The West Newton Center for Active Adults, 103 E. Main St., West Newton, will hold the first Coffee and Canvas of the year from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18. The cost for the class is $20 and covers materials and art instructors to assist. Call 724-872-4976 to reserve a spot.
Emergency preparedness training will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Friendship Baptist Church, 17 East Walnut St., Washington. A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Trinity High School senior Malea Baxter of Washington will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at American Legion Post 175, 168 Park Ave., Washington. Cost is $10 for adults, $6 for ages 5-10 and free to children age 4 and under. Malea was born with a bi-lateral cleft and no palate. The 17-year-old has undergone 13 surgeries with more to come. The next surgery will cost in excess of $20,000 and won’t be covered by insurance.
Mon Valley Coin Club meets at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at 303 Chamber Plaza, Charleroi. Applications are now being accepted for membership. A 50/50 will be offered and prizes to be awarded for kids. For information, call 724-984-6611.
