The Greene County Department of Recreation is offering problem-solving sessions for children ages 9 to 11 who are looking to spark imaginative learning after school. Teachers Kate Hillsman and Crystal Pratt will lead children in hands-on science programs at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28 at Greene County Fairgrounds. Each session is $5. Activities are designed to present a child with a problem to solve using limited resources. Classes may be canceled because of lack of participation or inclement weather. A community dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington. The menu will include creamed chicken & biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw or fruit, dessert and beverage. A free-will offering will be accepted and proceeds will benefit local charities and church ministries. Carryout is available. For information, call 724-222-7180.
