A benefit dinner will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Turkey Town Fire Hall, Mt. Pleasant Pike, to help Lowell Van Kirk. Lowell was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and needs help with expenses. A $15 donation will be accepted for a picnic dinner, raffles, baskets, Steelers items, aromatherapy and more. All funds raised will go to the family.
Knights of Columbus’ Parish Catechetical Initiative presents Movie Knight at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 176 Cross Creek Road, Avella.”Chariots of Fire,” rated PG, will be shown. Admission is free and concessions will be available. Donations are accepted at the monthly Movie Knight events to continue the ministry of the Knights of Columbus’ Parish Catechetical Initiative.
California University of Pennsylvania will host “We Can Do It! WWII,” a traveling exhibition from the Senator John Heinz History Center, in association with the Smithsonian Institution. The display, on the third floor of Manderino Library, will be open to the public, free of charge, from July 30-Oct. 2. The library will be closed on Labor Day weekend.
