Make-A-Wish needs local residents to volunteer their time and compassion to assist with fulfilling wishes.

As members of “wish teams,” volunteers are the faces of Make-A-Wish in their local communities. Working together, the wish team is assigned to a child in their area, meets one-on-one with the family and aids in determining the most suitable wish for the child.

Make-A-Wish is currently looking for new volunteers in Washington, Greene, Fayette, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Lawrence, Somerset and Westmorland counties. Currently, Make-A-Wish is not looking for volunteers in Allegheny County, but residents willing to travel to any of the counties listed will be considered. To become a wish volunteer, individuals must be at least 21 years of age, pass a criminal background check and attend a one-time, in-person training session.

Make-A-Wish always accepts applications in preparation of future training sessions. The next training session is scheduled for the fall and will depend on the number of interested members in the community. More details will be provided upon inquiry.

For more information and to begin the application process, contact Volunteer Manager Amanda Filsinger at 412.471.9474 or afilsinger@greaterpawv.wish.org.
