Slots revenue drops 9.4 percent at Meadows in May, rises minimally statewide

Slot machine revenue last month was up a minimal 0.37 percent at Pennsylvania’s 12 casinos compared with May 2017, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Monday.
Five venues posted decreases last month, including the Meadows Racetrack & Casino, which experienced the second-largest dropoff over the year – 9.40 percent. The North Strabane Township facility pulled in $17,359,254.44 in revenue in May, down from $19,160,075.79.
Gross revenue statewide was $203,993,259.02 last month, up a smidgen from $203,248,175.70 one year earlier. That was the largest percentage year-over-year jump since February 2016.
Rivers, on Pittsburgh’s North Side, experienced a 2.42 percent gain (from $22,139,417.06 to $22,676,245.11), while Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, had the heftiest monthly decline – 10.57 percent (from $2,696,693.81 to $2,411,604.59).
Slots play last month resulted in $106,415,748 in tax revenue.
An average of 25,840 slot machines operated statewide in May, down from 26,092 the previous year.
