Penn State Cooperative Extention will hold training in October for new master gardeners in Washington County. Training covers basic plant and soil science, plant propagation, integrated pest management, pruning and more.

Penn State Master Gardeners are volunteers who are trained by Penn State Cooperative Extension, and support educational programs in consumer horticulture. Master Gardeners volunteer with service agencies and community groups on a wide host of educational gardening projects, create demonstration gardens, introduce plant science to children, answer gardening questions, and write articles and fact sheets.

The fee for the 2018-19 Master Gardener training for Washington County is $200, which includes a comprehensive training manual.

Those interested are asked to call the Washington County Cooperative Extension office at 724-228-6881. Applications for the program will be mailed out in July.

For information, contact Laura Delach at 724-228-6881 or lkd10@psu.edu.
