Monongahela Rotary recognizes students of month
The Rotary Club of Monongahela recognized Ringgold High School seniors Kasyia Rowe-Lawrence and Lucas Greaves as the Students of the Month for October, Andrew Martis and CJ Franks as the Students of the Month for November, and Andrew Hrycko and Olivia Behanna as the Students of the Month for January. Students are selected based upon excellence in any one or more of the following areas: academic, athletics, arts, or community service.

Kasyia Rowe-Lawrence

Lucas Greaves
Kasyia Rowe-Lawrence is the daughter of Erica Rowe and Colin Lawrence and was named the 2017 Homecoming Queen. The only female trombone member in the marching band, Kasyia is also a member of the prom committee, Student Council, Photography Club and Mock Trial. She is enrolled in the gifted education program and is president of the National Honor Society. Kasyia enjoys ringing bells for the Salvation Army and has also donated blood in the school’s annual blood drive. After high school, she plans to study forensic science at Seton Hill University.
Lucas Greaves is the son of Jim and Maria Greaves. An active participant in his church, Lucas is involved with the Future is Mine, Relay for Life, Interact, prom committee, National Honor Society and the baseball team. As Ram Pound president, he lifts school spirit at pep rallies and Friday Night Lights. Following graduation, Lucas plans to attend St. Francis University to study physical therapy.

Andrew Martis

CJ Franks
Andrew Martis is the son of Suzanne and Rocco Martis. Andrew is president of Family Consumer Science Club, which won the 2017 cooking competition at Disney World. He has shared his culinary skills with others by volunteering for the spaghetti dinner fundraiser of the YMCA and by participating in holiday feeding programs for those in need. Andrew is president of the Outdoor Adventures Club, secretary of the Future is Mine Club, and a member of yearbook and outdoor track team. After graduation, Andrew plans to attend Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., for event, tourism and hospitality management.
CJ Franks is the son of Chuck and Debra Franks. He is senior class treasurer, a member of the football and track teams. His favorite community service activity is volunteering for Toys for Tots. CJ hopes to attend the University of Pittsburgh after graduation, but has not yet decided on a major.

Andrew Hrycko

Olivia Behanna
Andrew Hrycko is the son of Joseph and Nanneth Hrycko. He is a three-year track team captain, a member of the swim team, active in the school musical and Science Olympiad. He volunteers at the food bank, likes to walk dogs at the Humane Society. After graduation, Drew hopes to attend Haverfod College or Allegheny College to study biology, and eventually become an oncologist.
Olivia Behanna is the daughter of Pamela DeRose and Kevin Behanna. She is National Honor Society vice president, Drama Club vice president, and the Foreign Language Club vice president. Olivia is active in the Students in Action Club, the Future is Mine Club, Relay for Life, and is a is a member of the yearbook/publications staff. She has acted and student-directed “Charlotte’s Web.” Olivia is a childhood cancer survivor, and is a member of the Children’s Hospital Survivors Clinic. She is active in her community and her church. Olivia also enjoys teaching dance to the girls at her studio. Following graduation, she plans to attend college with a possible major in a foreign language.
The Rotary Club of Monongahela meets Thursdays at noon at Hills Restaurant in New Eagle. A Funny Fundraiser comedy night will be held March 24 at the New Eagle Social Hall. Advance tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at www.slapstickproductions.com. Proceeds will support the charitable activities of the club, including scholarships to graduating seniors of Ringgold High School.
