Nearly 50 Waynesburg University students are traveling this month on service trips at four different international and domestic locations, heading to West Virginia, Tennessee, Puerto Rico and Guatemala.

Seven students went to the Laughlin Memorial Chapel in Wheeling, W.Va., from May 7-11 to work with teachers and students at a high school to perform chemistry demos, and then tutor at an after-school program at the chapel. Evonne Baldauff, chairperson for the Department of Chemistry and Forensic Science, led the trip.

Melanie Catana, director of choral music, took the university’s Lamplighters Touring Choir to Nashville, Tenn., from May 7-13 to work with the Nashville Rescue Mission on improvement projects around the city, in addition to giving performances to share the Gospel through music.

Eight students, led by mathematic professor James Bush and forensic science instructor Faith Musko, are in Camp Caribe, a missionary camp in Puerto Rico, from May 7-15 to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria that devastated the island last year.

A group of 15 students, led by Pat Bristor, associate dean of students, and Ryan Smith, assistant director of student activities, will visit Centro Nutricional y Hogar de Niños in Patzun, Guatemala, May 7-21 to volunteer an orphanage and perform daily service projects, including maintenance to the building, interacting with the children and more.
