Don Witt of Witt Defense will hold a seminar at First Christian Church, 512 Second Street in Brownsville, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4. Witt will share information on how to respond to active shooter situations. The event is free. RSVP to 724-785-8497 and leave a message. Refreshments follow in the social hall.
A community dinner will be offered from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in Fellowship Hall at Rogersville United Methodist Church. Dinner choices will include Sloppy Joe, hot dog or creamed chicken sandwich, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, dessert and drink. Dinner is free, but donations are accepted. Carryout is available. Carmichaels Area Chamber of Commerce will hold Light up Night with Santa beginning at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, on the town square. Santa will arrive by fire truck with the 2018 PA Bituminous Coal Queen, who will greet each child with a treat bag. The Carmichaels Elementary Musical Mikes, For the Love of Dance and the Carmichaels Area Junior/Senior High School Marching Band will entertain.
Greene County Salvation Army Red Kettle Run will be held Saturday, Dec. 1. Registration for the family 5K run/walk will begin at 7:30 a.m. The Kids’ Mile Fun Run will take place at 8:30 followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9. Register online at salvationarmywpa.org/5k. A pancake breakfast and auction with Santa and his elves will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Cost is $6 for non-race participants. The Waynesburg Christmas Parade will begin at 2 p.m.
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Claysville, will hold its Christmas Extravaganza Craft and Vendor Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Lunch will be available and there will be an auction.
