Jefferson United Methodist Church, 192 S. Washington St., Jefferson, will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the church located at 192 S. Washington Street, Washington. Dinner will include creamed chicken over biscuit, mashed potatoes, gravy, country-style green beans, candied carrots, pickled beets, applesauce, desserts and beverage. Cost is $12 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Takeout will be available.

Have U Herd Goatscaping and Jen’s Yoga Zen will offer a NamastHay Goat Yoga class at 2 p.m. Oct. 20, at Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, Washington. Each NamastHay involves a herd of more than 30 goats that interact with participants in an outdoor setting. Space is limited. Tickets are $20 each with children ages 4-10 free with an adult admission. A portion of each ticket sale will benefit Angel Ridge. Tickets are available through Eventbrite. For the first time, NamastHay has been invited to Seven Springs AutumnFest for NamastHay on the Mountain at 2 p.m. October 13. For this special class, tickets are on sale through showclix.com.

Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh’s themed Star Party and Sci-Fi Night will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, at Mingo Observatory in Mingo Creek County Park. Safe solar observing will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. followed by the Sci-Fi event from 6:30 to 8:30, and dark sky observing from 6:30 to 11. Observing is weather permitting. The Sci-Fi event will occur rain or shine. Visitors will be dressed as various characters from “Star Wars” and “Star Trek.” Admission is free, but donations are accepted to help with operating costs. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Charleroi, will hold a lasagna dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children under 6, and includes a slice of lasagna, salad, Italian bread and dessert. Takeouts are available. Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) will hold a Night at the Races on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Odd Fellows Hall, 3684 Finleyville-Elrama Road, Finleyville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will be food, refreshments and prizes. Horses are available to purchase for $15. Proceeds benefit the Pennsylvania I.O.O.F. Scholarship Foundation. Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church will hold a fall festival and pig roast from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. David Episcopal Church, 905 E. McMurray Road, Venetia. In addition to pork sandwiches there will be roast beef, homemade fries, coleslaw and fall desserts. There will be music, caramel apple dipping, crafts for children, raffle baskets and a bounce house. Dinner tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors age 65+ and children. California United Methodist Church will host the fundraising event “Fall for Beauty” from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in the church social hall located in the first floor of 227 3rd St. Proceeds benefit the church building repair fund. The event will include fashions, product demonstrations, hair braiding, a selfie station and beauty makeovers. There will be jewelry, makeup and beauty products available to try and purchase.
