Meadowcroft ends season with Fall Finale
Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village in Avella closes its 50th season with a Fall Finale from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
There will be fall-themed activities for the whole family throughout the day, including cooking demonstrations in the Hamilton Log House and cornhusk crafting at the 18th-century Frontier Trading Post. Visitors can test their skills with the atlatl – a spear-thrower used by prehistoric hunters – in a recreated 16th-century Monongahela Indian Village.
There will also be taffy-pulling parties at the King House for an additional $3 fee per participant. Space is limited for the taffy pulling, so reservations are required by calling 724-587-3412.
Except for taffy pulling parties, all Fall Finale activities are included with Meadowcroft admission: $15 for adults, $14 for senior citizens, and $7 for students and children ages 6-17. Children ages 5 and under and History Center members get in free. For information, visit www.heinzhistorycenter.org/meadowcroft or call 724-587-3412.
