New Freeport Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a country music event from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at New Freeport fire hall. Country Sounds will perform from 7 to 8:30 followed by Courtney Ross from at 8:30. Admission is $5.
A square dance, including line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Center Township Fire Hall in Rogersville. Caller will be Dave Dahl. Cost is $7 for adults, $10 for couples and $5 for children ages 12 to 18. Beginners welcome. Food and drinks will be served beginning at 6:30. Proceeds benefit Center Twp. Emmanuel U.P. Church, 480 Route 519, Eighty Four, will hold its annual turkey and ham supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 10. Children ages 5 and younger are free. Takeout will be available. For more information, call 724-222-7488.
Jefferson College Historical Society will meet from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Frank Sarris Public Library, 36 N. Jefferson Ave., Canonsburg. A business meeting will take place from 5:30 to 6 followed by a talk by Dr. John R. Oyler from 6 to 8. Oyler will present “How Western Pennsylvania Boundaries Were Determined.” Refreshments will follow the free meeting.
Archaeologist and Peters Creek Historical Society member Ben Demchak will be the guest speaker for the society’s 7:30 p.m. Monday meeting, which will be held in the social room of Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia. Demchak’s program will focus on the study of cemeteries, their placement and how they relate to regulated areas like the Waters of the United States. Refreshments will be served. The Greene County Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Waynesburg Bible Chapel located on Greene Street. This month’s program is a Photography Great Courses DVD lesson. Members are reminded to bring three photos for this month’s photo challenge, “Something You Don’t Like.” New members are welcome.
“Love Letters – Music and Letters of Wartime,” a musical concert featuring wartime correspondence exchanged by military veterans and their loved ones, will take place Oct. 14 at The Bible Chapel, McMurray. It includes letters and music from major military conflicts beginning with the War of Independence through today, accompanied by a multimedia video presentation. The principal artist and creator of the concept is pianist and vocalist Donna Groom, who has been with Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners for 36 years. A chicken and biscuit dinner will be held from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cokeburg Presbyterian Church. Dinner includes chicken and biscuits, potatoes, applesauce and cake. There will be an auction as well. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children.
