Peters Township Fire Department will kick-off Fire Prevention Month at its seventh annual open house set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 245 E. McMurray Road, McMurray. Tour the station, meet firefighters, check out the trucks and the fire safety house. Attendees can also test their skills in the Firefighter Challenge and watch a live vehicle rescue demonstration. The event will include free food, music and entertainment.

Not Alone: A Concert for Jack will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Campbell Memorial Chapel at Chatham University. This evening of music and poetry will feature members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. There is no fee to attend, but donations will be accepted to fund research and education through the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The Rogersville sanctuary will host its third annual open house fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 165 Lightner Run Road near Rogersville. Admission is $15 for for adults and $9 for children 9 and younger. Fee includes food, entertainment, games and information on the horses. The farm helps rehabilitate unwanted or ill horses. Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 4 in Fellowship Hall at Carmichaels Methodist Church. Becky Kamp of Uniontown will present a program about guide dogs. Members are reminded to bring pairs of socks for the “Step Away From Abuse” sock contest. Bring a guest. New members are welcome.

Washington Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a shopping and home show fundraising event from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4 and 5 in the community room at the hospital.
