All-Star Teacher – Kevin Willis

Representatives from Chevron, the Grable Foundation, Pittsburgh Pirates and Pirates Charities recognized four Pittsburgh-area teachers for their exceptional classroom efforts during surprise school events, including Carmichaels Area Senior High School’s Kevin Willis, who was honored as one of this season’s “All Star Teachers.” Willis teaches Chemistry, Environmental and Integrated Science classes at Carmichaels. He was nominated for this commitment to mentorship, as demonstrated through his work with award-winning Envirothon Team. Chevron, the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pirates Charities and The Grable Foundation teamed up with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, Intermediate Unit One, and Kidsburgh to form the “All Star Teachers” Program, which recognizes exceptional Pre-K- to 12th-grade educators in southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia. Eighteen winning teachers have been selected winners for making a significant difference in the lives of their students. Each will receive a $1,000 classroom grant, a personalized Pirates jersey, and on-field recognition during a Pirates game at PNC Park this season.
