March slots revenue jumps statewide, but falls at Meadows

Slot machine play at Pennsylvania casinos last month generated $226,597,681.24 in gross revenue. That was the third-highest monthly total on record, the state Gaming Control Board reported this week.
Those three most bountiful months occurred in March, topped by $233,147,479 in March 2012 and $229,335,372 in March 2013.
Revenue at the 12 gaming sites last month was $5.2 million higher – a 2.37 percent bump – from $221,350,220.10 in March 2018. Tax revenue from slots play was $118,017,388.
The Meadows Casino, in North Strabane Township, experienced a $448,000 decrease (a 2.16 percent dip) over the year. Revenue last month was $19,353,776.42, compared with $19,802,013.86 the previous March. The Meadows was among four casinos to endure a dropoff.
Rivers Casino, on Pittsburgh’s North Side, posted a 6.22 percent gain. Revenue was $28,250,282.22, a jump of about $1.7 million from $26,595,999.42.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, absorbed the largest decline – 10.11 percent. Revenue fell nearly $276,000 from March 2018, from $2,736,877.27 to $2,256,981.24.
An average of 25,238 slot machines operated statewide last month, 11 more than a year earlier.
