Pennsylvania’s casinos roared like a lion throughout March, establishing a record for total revenue.
The state’s 12 gaming sites combined for $309,125,131 in revenue from tables games and slot machines play, an all-time high for one month, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Monday.
The previous record was $300,516,011 in March 2018.
Those are the only two months that combined revenue has topped $300 million since the state’s casinos opened in late 2006. Last month’s total was 2.86 percent higher than in March 2018.
That wasn’t the only statewide gaming record to tumble. March table games figures also were released Monday, and the $82,527,450 generated was an all-time high as well. That figure was up 4.25 percent from $79,165,791 the previous March.
The casinos had a bountiful March all-around. Slots revenue last month, which had been reported earlier, was $226,597,681. That was the third highest slots figure recorded.
The Meadows Casino, conversely, endured a small dip in both categories last month. The North Strabane Township gaming locale had $3,543,590 in table games revenue, down 2.66 percent from $3,640,443 in March 2018. Total March revenue was $22,897,366, 2.33 percent lower than $23,442,457 year over year.
Rivers Casino, on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, experienced an 8.02 percent increase in table games revenue (from $6,950,173 to $7,507,345) and a 6.59 percent bump (from $33,546,172 to $35,757,627) from March 2018.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, in Fayette County, endured year-over-year declines in table games revenue ($499,751 to $294,403, 41.09 percent) and total revenue ($3,236,628 to 2,754,516, 14.9 percent).
