Washington Trotting Association LLC, operator of the Meadows Racetrack & Casino in North Strabane Township, has been fined $12,500 for an underage gaming violation.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced this week it approved the fine after an 18-year-old man was found on the gaming floor, wagering at table games and being served alcohol. An individual has to be at least 21 to bet in Pennsylvania casinos; 18 is the minimum age for harness race wagering.
That fine was small compared with the $230,000 in fines levied against Sands Bethworks Gaming LLC, operator of Sands Casino Resort in Northampton County. The gaming board issued two fines in this instance: one for $120,000 for 11 incidents of underage gaming violations, the other $110,000 for issuing free slot machine play to employees who were not authorized to get it, and/or who got the free play for amounts higher than authorized.
