A community dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Liberty United Methodist Church, 1330 Banetown Road, Washington. Menu includes creamed chicken and biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw or fruit, dessert and beverage. A free-will offering will be accepted, and proceeds will benefit local charities and church ministries. Carryout is available. For more information, call 724-222-7180.
Giant Oaks Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, for its monthly luncheon meeting and program at St. David’s Anglican Church, 905 E. McMurray Road, Peters Township. Claire Schuchman, a Phipps master gardener, speaker and author who created Exceptional Gardener, will discuss what to do with your garden when you don’t know what to do, with an organic and sustainable approach that works with nature and low maintenance.
A National Day of Prayer worship service for the Brownsville community will be held from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Thursday, May 2, with an “Ask the Pastor” time from 7:45 to 8:30. A free light supper will be offered prior to the service, beginning at 6:30.
Washington Hospital Auxiliary is sponsoring a linen sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3, in the Community Room at the hospital. Come and see the large variety of quilt sets, throws, blankets, pillows, sheet sets and much more.
