This year marks 66 consecutive years the Annual State Bituminous Coal Queen Pageant has taken place. Twelve candidates will compete for the 2019 crown Aug. 18.

The pageant starts at 7 p.m. at Carmichaels Area High School. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is $10. Guests can also purchase program books for $10.

Those who earn top scores in interview, talent, evening gown and impromptu questions categories will earn the titles of coal queen, first, second, third and fourth runners-up.

The contestant who raises the most sponsorship money and the contestant who is voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants will also win awards.

Holly Lesko, daughter of Donna and Scott Lesko of Smithfield, precedes this year’s contestants. She is a student at Albert Gallatin Area High School.

The 2019 contestants are as follows:

Kaitlyn Alena Adams, daughter of Daria Garlick of Brownsville. She attends Brownsville Area High School.

Christina Barnett, daughter of Tina and Chris Spitznogle of Greensboro. She is representing Mapletown High School.

Rory Black, daughter of Betty Jo and Robert Black of Graysville. She is a student at West Greene High School.

Alison Blair, daughter of Mike and Laurie Blair of Waynesburg. She attends Waynesburg Central High School.

Elizabeth Dulla, daughter of Laura Petras of Fayette City. She is representing Frazier High School.

Kyleigh Good, daughter of Ashley Gedda and John Good of California. She attends California Area High School.

Giavanna Gulino, daughter of Nick and Tina Gulino of Uniontown. She is representing Laurel Highlands High School.

Trinity Lax, daughter of Crystal and Addison Lax of New Salem. She is representing Uniontown Area High School.

Delaney Lohr, daughter of Jason and Trisha Lohr of Carmichaels. She is representing Carmichaels Area High School.

McKenzie King, daughter of Erin and Thurman King of Fairchance. She is representing Albert Gallatin Area High School.

Echo Wren Shaffer, daughter of Edgar and Brenda Shaffer of Uniontown. She attends Geibel Catholic High School.

Chelsea Weid, daughter of Loretta Weid and James Weid II of Richeyville. She attends Bethlehem Center High School.
