Chaney – Huggins
Mark Chaney and Karen Huggins were united in marriage on October 6, 2018, at The Church of the Covenant (Rusch Chapel) in Washington. The Rev. Dr. Stuart D. Broberg officiated the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.
The bride’s parents are Mrs. Martha Strohecker of Washington and the late Mr. Walter R. Huggins.
Parents of the bridegroom are the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Howard Chaney of Washington.
The bride was given in marriage in spirit by her late father, with friends and family stating “We all do!” when asked by Rev. Broberg.
Matron of honor was Bev Boyles of Beaufort, N.C., friend of the bride and groom. Honor attendant was Debbie Chaney of Canonsburg, sister-in-law of the groom. Flower girl was Mallory Gulotta, great-niece of the groom, who, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, had the tips of her hair dyed pink to honor the bride, who is a 10-year survivor of the disease.
Jim Boyles of Beaufort, N.C., friend of the bride and groom, served as best man. Jay Chaney of Canonsburg, brother of the groom was an usher. Serving as usher to the mother of the bride was friend of the bride Paul Collier of Swansea, Wales.
Friend of the bride Susan Williams of Swansea, Wales, was the reader and included an original published poem titled “Evening Walk,” that was written by the bride’s late great-aunt Juanita (Jackie) Runnion of Spencer, W.Va.
The bride is a 1977 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1999 graduate of Penn Commercial. She works for the IS Dept. at Washington Health System.
Mr. Chaney is also a 1977 graduate of Trinity High School. He works as an inspector for Johnson Controls.
A reception was held at Chartiers Township Community Center.
The couple honeymooned in Pismo Beach, Calif., and make their home in Washington.
