West Washington United Methodist Church will welcome its new pastor, the Rev. James W. Kimmel, at the 10 a.m. service Sunday. He received his master of divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
AFSCME Retiree Local 8402 will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sarris Public Library, Canonsburg. Members are asked to wear an AFSCME shirt to the meeting. Reservations are being taken for the August meeting/picnic being held at Napoli’s Restaurant in Washington by Marianne Saunders at 724-322-1070.
Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Buffalo Road South, Hopewell Township, will hold its free monthly community lunch from noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Giant Oaks Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. July 11 for its monthly luncheon meeting and program at St. David’s Anglican Church, 905 East McMurray Road, Peters Township.
The Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will hold Star Parties at Mingo Creek Park Observatory, Mansion Hill Extension, past Shelter 10, July 12 and 13. Transitional Paths to Independent Living will be hosting a free wellness Wii & Technology Training event on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 19. Wellness will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and technology training is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. People with disabilities are encouraged to attend. All events and classes will be held at 69 E.
