Mon Valley Academy for the Arts has announced that for the third consecutive year, the EQT Foundation has sponsored the EQT/MVAA Summer Concert Series, to be held at Chess Park in Monongahela and Palmer Park in Donora. On Sunday, June 9, the season will kick off at Chess Park. The gazebo concert will begin at 1:45 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. Sage Sneith will open the concert with the national anthem, followed by the local guitar duo Keith Wilson and Scotty Spahr. The headliner band will be the classic rock act Black Dog Hollow. On Sunday, June 23, the first event will be held at Palmer Park. The new local duo Lex and Tess will open the show at 1:45 p.m., followed by the Andy Gregg Band, which will play classic country hits and original material until 4 p.m. In total, there will be eight outdoor concerts between June and September. The events are free and open to the public.

AFSCME Retirees Local 8402 will meet at 1 p.m. June 11 at Sarris Public Library, Canonsburg. Reservations are being taken for the August meeting/picnic being held at Napoli Restaurant, Washington.

The Washington Corps of the Salvation Army, 60 E. Maiden St., will hold its monthly rummage sale on Tuesday, June 11. Doors will open at 9 a.m., with the bag sale beginning at noon.

Chartiers-Houston Community Library and Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11 are hosting a maker event at the library from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, for children 6 and older. The maker event will encourage children, teens and adults to explore, tinker, create, make and computer code with a variety of stations featuring hands-on, interactive activities. For the safety and security of the children, parents, guardians or older siblings must remain with them at all times. No experience is necessary, and the event is free of charge.
