The Carmichaels Women’s Civic Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Carmichaels Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Jennifer Mudery, a local artist from McClellandtown, will present a program about Pysanky (Ukrainian) Easter eggs. Members and guests will have the opportunity to make Pysanky eggs. Members are reminded to bring new journals that will be donated to the Domestic Violence Center in Waynesburg. New members are welcome.

Mon Valley NAACP 2274 meets at 6 p.m. the first Thursday of the month. New members are welcome. For information on joining, call the NAACP office at 724-684-8545 and leave a message. At the Feb. 7 meeting, a list of committees that will serve this year was submitted. Committee chairs will be selected at the next meeting on March 7. Committees include: education, business development, legal resources, freedom fund, membership, communications, political action, religious affairs and health care. Also discussed was the food bank receptacle sponsored by the Mon Valley NAACP and located at the Monessen Public Library, and the need to support and solicit assistance for those affected by the government shut down and others in need.

Giant Oaks Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, for its monthly luncheon meeting and program at St. David’s Anglican Church, 905 East McMurray Road, Venetia. Arborist representative Gannon Boone of Bartlett Tree Experts will discuss common things that cause the demise of trees. To attend as a guest, call Mary Meta at 412-835-4253.
