Town & Country Garden Club – maple syrup
Linda Shefcheck presented the program “Making Maple Syrup” at the February meeting of Town & Country Garden Club. She explained about the different types of maple trees and how to mark the trees in summer or fall to remember which trees to tap in the winter. Shefcheck’s great-grandfather had a farm in Newbury, Ohio. He started making syrup in the 1890s, with the family farm producing maple syrup until a few years back. Shefcheck then served club members pancakes and sausage with Ohio maple syrup.
