U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin appointed Tom Uram of North Strabane Township as chair of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee for a one-year term. A member of the committee since 2012, Uram, right, was one of three representatives from the committee who met with the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts to select from a design competition a medal commemorating the Apollo 11 moon landing. The winning design depicts both an astronaut’s helmet and footprint. Uram has issued privately-struck medals, including one to commemorate Pope Francis’ first official visit to the United States in 2015. He is governor of the American Numismatic Association and president of the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists. Uram is shown with Bureau of Engraving and Printing Director Lenard R. Olijar, left, and U.S. Mint Director David J. Ryder.
