Jobs event
With a cracker plant going up in Beaver County, and industry and industrial jobs on the rise regionally, the Builders Guild of Western Pennsylvania and six Pittsburgh area corporations have joined forces to present “Build On . . . Careers in the Construction and Allied Industries.” It is scheduled for March 29 and 30 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, downtown Pittsburgh.
The program, according to a news release from the Builders Guild, is designed “to help students, parents and career seekers gain a better understanding of the union construction, energy, manufacturing, natural gas and petrochemical industries, and the technically skilled workforce needs” in the future.
There will be interactive hands-on displays, demonstrations, training simulators and app-based games that provide information on industrial careers.
The guild is presenting the event along with Peoples, CNX, Duquesne Light Co., US Steel, Shell Chemicals Pennsylvania and ATI Flat Rolled Products.
Jeff Nobers, the guild’s executive director, said in a statement: “We believe this program can help to shatter some of the myths surrounding our industries. These careers offer family sustaining wages and benefits, are long-term and require a high level of skill and technical ability that is learned through our industry and company-training programs.”

’Super attorney'
A Washington resident, once again, has been designated a “super attorney.”
John “Jack” Puskar was so recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine, a Thomson Reuters rating service of attorneys. He was named a Rising Star in the family law practice area for the second year in a row.
The rating service evaluates lawyers from more than 70 practice areas.
