Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will offer the program “Flight of the Timberdoodle” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Shelter 4 in Mingo Creek County Park. The group will gather in a field at dusk to listen for and observe the American Woodcock and one of the most unique courtship displays in the animal kingdom. Dress for moderate hiking and the weather. A flashlight may be needed on the return hike. Reservations are required at 724-228-6867. There is no fee for this program.

9/11 and the Heroes of Flight 93 will be presented at Peters Township Public Library at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11. Hear a firsthand account of the day the nation was under attack by Mahlon Fuller, watch supervisor at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Fuller evacuated the control tower and radar room because a hijacked plane was flying directly toward the airport. The plane was later identified as United 93. At the conclusion of the program, Mr. Fuller will accept free-will donations with all funds benefitting Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial.
