Washington County Parks and Recreation will offer the preschool program Fantastic Fowl for children ages 3-5 on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2 and 3. Two sessions will be offered beginning at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Meet at the Park Office. Learn about chickens through hands on activities. Dress accordingly. There is a $2 fee for this program. Emmy Award-winning producer, television host, writer and organic gardener, Doug Oster, will speak on spring gardening next month at Citizens Library. “Starting Early for Your Best Garden Ever” is the topic of Oster’s presentation. It will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 12, in the library’s reception room. The event is hosted by Friends of Citizens Library. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at CitiBooks, the used bookstore located on the lower level of the library during store hours. The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 pm. Saturday. Oster is manager and educator of the web site “Everybody Gardens.” He co-hosts the “Organic Gardeners Radio Show” on KDKA Sunday mornings at 7 a.m. and appears Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. on KDKA-TV’s “Pittsburgh Today.”
A soup supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at Highland Brethren Church, 456 Highland Ridge Road, Marianna. The menu will include oyster stew, chicken noodle and chilli. Takeout will be available. For information, call 724-809-7462.
The 41st season of the Washington Antiques Fair at Washington Wild Things Park will take place March through October. The fair is held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. the last Sunday of the month, including: March 31, April 28, May 26, June 30, July 28, Aug. 25, Sept. 29 and Oct. 27.
