Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services Inc.’s Aging Services will honor volunteers in three separate dinners.

Previously, the agency set aside one day a year to show its appreciation to the hundreds of volunteers who serve senior citizens throughout the Mon Valley.

Volunteers who serve Monongahela and Donora will be honored at a dinner May 10 at the Monongahela Senior Center.

On May 16, beginning at noon, Riverside Place in Charleroi will host a luncheon for volunteers from the Magic City.

Volunteers from Perryopolis, Center on the Hill and Brownsville senior centers will be honored May 30 at Center on the Hill in Washington Township.

The event is held to honor those who give their time to deliver noon-time meals daily to homebound seniors as well as those who volunteer at the five senior centers in the Mon Valley. The agency has close to 1,000 volunteers who perform various tasks in addition to presenting programs at the centers, such as line dancing, crafts, property tax and rebate programs, or planning the variety shows that benefit the home-delivered meals program.

Close to 300 volunteers are expected to attend the dinners.
