The Mental Health Association of Washington County will celebrate 54 years of service to the community at its annual Mental Health Dinner at 6:30 p.m. May 17 at Lone Pine Country Club. The public is invited.

This year’s theme is “Healthy Minds Have Helpful Hands,” which will highlight the significance of mental wellness.

Fred Terling will be the speaker. He is the board president of Pennsylvania Mental Health Consumers Association, a NAMI Connection state trainer, the managing editor for PA Bridges and a board member for MHA.

Annual award winners will be recognized. Receiving the Robert A. Harms Professional of the Year Award will be Robert Chuey, special education coordinator for Canon-McMillan School District and a certified school psychologist. The winner of the Clara L. Deems Neighbor of the Year Award is being presented to Trinity United Methodist Church. Trinity United Methodist is a longtime supporter of Santa’s Breakfast, an event MHA hosts for children with mental health needs and their families. The Corporate Citizen of the Year Award is being presented to Ashby Heating and Cooling. Ashby has provided MHA’s residential programs with prompt, consistent, and dependable service.
