Jefferson Township Historical Society, Eldersville, will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, in the White Church building on Fire Road across from the fire hall. Guest speaker will be Chris Sedlak, who will present “Influenza 1918.” A special treat will be an authentic 1918 lunch of macaroni soup, homemade using a recipe from the 1916 U.S. Army Cooks Manual. The museum will be opened following the meeting. Everyone is welcome.

A free deaf ministry boot camp will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 530 Center Church Road, McMurray. The program is open to all who want to learn the basics of ministry with the deaf. Free handouts will be distributed, and books will be for sale. The program will be presented in spoken English. A light lunch will be provided. The Rev. Leo Yates, a certified interpreter, author and UMC deacon from Baltimore, will present the program. For questions, email to trinitysigns530@gmail.com. Giant Oaks Garden Club’s annual plant sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Peters Township Public Library. The sale will feature perennials, herbs and other plants from club members’ gardens. Local vendors have donated annuals and hanging baskets. Flea market items will also be available for purchase. A basket of gardening items will be raffled off. Proceeds from the sale will benefit area nonprofits.
