Mon-Vale Resources presents Protin Award

Mon-Vale Health Resources Inc. presented the 2019 Edward J. Protin Memorial Award to Christopher J. Coccari, Same Day Surgery nurse manager at Monongahela Valley Hospital. The award, which is one of the health system’s most prestigious honors, was presented to the West Newton resident during MVHR’s Annual Service Awards Reception May 7.
Those eligible for the Protin Award have served the health system for at least a decade, go above and beyond what is required and demonstrated the qualities of leadership, loyalty, compassion and empathy.
In presenting the award, Human Resources assistant Laurie Chester, the 2018 Protin Award recipient, said, “Chris Coccari is a dedicated and compassionate nurse who is leader among his peers. Although he has demanding responsibilities at Monongahela Valley Hospital, he works tirelessly throughout the year to raise money for community charities including the Epiphany of Our Lord in Monessen, Allenport Lions Club, Monessen Italian Club, Donora Fire Company and Monessen Public Library by attending car shows with his Ford Mustang.
The Protin Memorial Award was established in 1981 in memory of Edward J. Protin of Charleroi, former president of the hospital’s board of trustees and a longtime community leader in the mid-Mon Valley.
