Fayette student named 2022 Pennsylvania Bituminous Coal Queen
A Fayette County student was crowned the 2022 Pennsylvania Bituminous Coal Queen.
Brianna Hensh, representing Laurel Highlands High School, was selected from a field of eight contestants for the title. She also received the titles of Miss Photogenic and Top Evening Gown.
First runner-up was Kaelyn Rozgony from Albert Gallatin Area High School. Olivia Toth from Carmichaels Area High School was second runner-up. Third and fourth runners-up were Kaitlyn Matheny from California Area High School and Claire White from Uniontown Area High Schools, respectively.
Rozgony received additional awards for Top Interview and Top Talent. Toth got the award for Best On-Stage Question, and Matheny was named Miss Congeniality.
Jillian Katruska from Jefferson-Morgan High School received the Top Sponsor award.
During the pageant, the contestants, all seniors in high school, participated in a variety of contests, including personal interview, talent, evening gown and on-stage question.
Hensh is the daughter of Greg and Dee Hensh; Rozgony is the daughter of Mike and Kristin Rozgony; Toth is the daughter of Robert and Kathleen Toth; Matheny is the daughter of Brent and Tiffany Matheny; White is the daughter of Jason and Terri White; and Katruska is the daughter of Joseph and Rachelle Katruska.
Other contestants included Isabel LaPoe, Clay-Batelle High School, daughter of Elissa LaPoe; and Rory Branham, Mapletown High School, daughter of Kassie Branham.
State Rep. Pam Snyder crowned this year’s Coal Queen at the pageant, held Sunday at Carmichaels Area High School. Josie Yuras of Carmichaels, daughter of Jason and Amber Yuras, served as crown bearer.
Elizabeth Dulla, the 2019 Pennsylvania Bituminous Coal Queen, also attended. Dulla represented Frazier High School the last year the pageant was held.
