Brew Love
The Washington Brewing Company and The Washington Winery are coming together to host the For the Love of Beer, Wine & Food Pairing event from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 14. Enjoy an evening of specialty cuisine by Executive Chef John DeFede expertly paired with craft beers and wine varietals. Following an amuse bouche, begin with a first course of candied oranges with spicy seared scallops, paired with Dub-J IPA. Move on to the tasty apple and pork belly beignet with gruyère sauce, paired with Royal Pils. Next up, dig in to house-made sausage and smoked pepper mashed potatoes with sweet onion gravy, paired with Bassettown Brown. For the fourth course, savor smoked ribeye with a marinated mushroom and goat cheese tart, paired with Little Red IPA. Lastly, sip on vanilla fig wine while noshing on a chocolate cheesecake donut. Sounds divine! Tickets are $35 per person. To purchase, visit localwineevents.com/events/detail/706370 or call 724-228-5050.

Eat Your Heart Out
Treat your significant other to a cozy dinner at Juniper Grill with the sweetest ending! On Valentine’s Day, the Peters Township restaurant will feature crab cake dip, short rib flatbread, and smoked Pacific salmon to start. Choose from entreés like premium Angus filet and jumbo shrimp, rosemary rotisserie rack of lamb, and wood-fire grilled ahi tuna steak by Executive Chef Tyler Smith and his culinary team. The big finish would not be complete without Sarris chocolate-dipped strawberries, raspberry cheesecake chimichanga, or cherry pie skillet with a crisp oat topping, candied almonds, and Sarris French vanilla ice cream. We’re in love! To make a reservation, visit junipergrill.com or call 724-260-7999.
Dinner for two
Bistecca Steakhouse & Wine Bar is another local restaurant that’s getting romantic for Valentine’s Day. Its Prix Fixe menu starts off with a chopped or Caesar salad, and segues into entrees that include surf and turf, filet Oscar, chicken and shrimp piccata, cold water lobster tail or crab-crusted Chilean sea bass, all served with stuffed potato and asparagus. Their a la carte menu is also available, and if you manage to save room for dessert, you could have New York style cheesecake, Italian lemon cake, peanut butter mousse or the chef’s signature cheesecake. The menu is available on Valentine’s Day, as well as Feb. 10 and 17 – but be sure to make reservations by calling 724-503-1510.
