Faculty and coach union members at Pennsylvania’s state-owned universities voted this week to ratify their respective four-year agreements.

Of Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF) faculty members who voted, 96% were in favor of their deal. Of APSCUF coach union members who voted, 99% voted in favor of their deal.

APSCUF does not tally results by campus.

After members voted Tuesday through Thursday, APSCUF tallied ballots Friday in its Harrisburg office. The tentative agreements go to Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education’s Board of Governors for approval. Details will be released after ratification and approval are complete.

“These contracts are the product of countless hours of hard work by faculty, coaches, and the system’s management,” said Dr. Kenneth M. Mash, APSCUF president. “This work resulted in fair contracts that position our universities to continue to provide students with a high-quality education.”

The previous faculty and coach contracts expired June 30. By law, they remain in effect until new collective bargaining agreements are ratified.

APSCUF represents about 5,000 faculty and coaches at 14 state system campuses, including the Pennsylvania Western University campuses of California, Clarion and Edinboro.
