A Donora man was arrested over the weekend after a shooting at an Allegheny County bar killed one man and injured another.
Jacob Snyder, 26, is charged by Allegheny County Police with homicide, attempted homicide and aggravated assault.
Snyder is accused in court documents of shooting and killing Edward Gibson, 36, at Beer Belly’s bar in West Elizabeth at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Snyder also is accused of shooting Thomas Carlin, who was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he was in stable condition Monday.
Witnesses told police that Snyder and the victims had gone out a side door to a patio area, where the shooting occurred. One witness said Carlin came running back into the bar yelling that Snyder had shot him.
According to the criminal complaint, police took Snyder into custody at the nearby Dollar General. While searching they were met by Snyder’s brother, who urged Snyder to turn himself in after receiving a phone call from him, according to court documents.
Police found that Snyder had left the firearm allegedly used in the shooting in the garage of a friend in the 1100 block of First Street.
Snyder was arraigned in Pittsburgh municipal court Sunday morning. He is being held in the Allegheny County jail without bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 26.
