PennWest California held its spring commencement ceremonies Saturday at the Convocation Center with diplomas conferred on 683 students. Dr. Brenda Fredette, dean of the College of Science, Technology and Business, served as master of ceremonies. Sarah Seader, of Centerville, and Olivia Russo, of Verona, gave the student addresses. Also speaking were Kathy Pape and Larry Maggi from PennWest’s Council of Trustees and A. Tereasa Rerko, president of the California Alumni Board of Directors. During one of the ceremonies, a posthumous Bachelor of Arts in theater was awarded to California alumnus and emeritus professor Dr. C.R. Thomas, which was accepted by his wife, Linda. Thomas retired in 2002 after more than 35 years of teaching English at the California campus.
