Franklin Theft reported: Copper wire was stolen from R&M Manufacturing at 413 Jefferson Road between 4 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Monday, state police said. The copper, valued at $750, was cut from a large compressor.

Assault charge: Charges were filed against Michael T. Phillips, 21, of Spraggs, after he allegedly assaulted Bryan Lee Maxwell, 19, of Valley Grove, W.Va., at 11:45 p.m. Saturday a residence at 115 Buchannan Road, state police said.
