A Cecil Township man accused of a Thanskgiving Day standoff with police after firing several shots from an assault rifle at family members waived his case Monday to Washington County Court.
Joseph Jene Kovan, 41, of 13 Charles St., allegedly shot at his father and sister before Cecil police called the Washington County Regional SWAT team to the home. Officers were able to persuade Kovan to leave his house.
A charge of aggravated assault was changed to simple assault during the proceeding before District Judge Valarie Costanzo. A charge of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure was withdrawn. He also waived a charge of terroristic threats.
Kovan’s bond was change to a $100,000 percentage bond at the agreement of the prosecution and defense. He has been in Washington County Jail since his arrest.
