WAYNESBURG – Central Greene School Board voted Tuesday to appoint Matthew Blair acting superintendent to serve until a replacement is found for Dr. Jerome Bartley.

Blair, the district’s technology coordinator, was placed in charge of the day-to-day operations of the district until Jan. 1, when he will assume the position of acting superintendent.

The board will be conducting a search for a replacement for Bartley, who last month submitted his letter of retirement.

Bartley, superintendent of the district for the last 10 years, cited medical necessity and family obligations as his reasons for retiring. His retirement is effective Jan. 1.

The board also held its reorganization meeting Tuesday.

Eleanor Chapman was re-elected board president and Mike Ames vice president. Sharon Bennett will serve as assistant secretary.

The board will continue to meet at 6:30 p.m. on the second and third Tuesdays in the administration office adjacent to Margaret Bell Miller Middle School in Waynesburg.

The meeting on the second Tuesday will be a workshop and committee meeting, and the regular meeting will be held the following week.

In December 2013, the board will meet on the first Tuesday for the reorganization and committee meetings and on the second Tuesday for the regular meeting.

The board Tuesday held its committee meeting following the reorganization meeting. Its regular meeting for this month will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
