COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio authorities are looking for information about the unsolved slaying of a couple shot while sleeping six years ago.

Pike County Sheriff Richard Henderson said the case has been open long enough and it’s time to give the victims’ families closure.

Jennifer Burgette and Curtis Francis were killed six years ago Sunday at a home they shared in Piketon in southern Ohio.

Agents with the Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation are helping Pike County with the investigation.

Authorities believe more than one person witnessed the killings and say the killer likely knew the couple.

Attorney General Mike DeWine launched an initiative in September aimed at solving the state’s approximately 5,000 unsolved homicides.
