Charges will be filed against an Oakdale woman accused of biting a paramedic while being taken into custody for driving under the influence Nov. 21 in McDonald.

Lisa A. Biggs, 53, of 600 Hankey Farm Drive, faces charges of aggravated assault and DUI, according to a criminal complaint from McDonald police.

McDonald and Cecil Township police officers responded to South McDonald Street and Reising Road for a report of a woman lying in the middle of road at 11:40 p.m. Nov. 21, the affidavit states.

A witness told police a sport utility vehicle driven by Biggs, who had been tailgating him, stopped behind his vehicle after he pulled over to let her pass on South McDonald Street. Biggs reportedly exited her vehicle, stated she was drunk and lay down in the road, police said. Another bystander managed to remove the keys from Biggs’ ignition after she got back into her SUV and passed out, according to police.

When medical personnel tried to place Biggs into an ambulance, police said she became combative and bit a Fort Cherry paramedic on the forearm, breaking the skin. Biggs was subsequently handcuffed and transported to Canonsburg General Hospital for a blood test.

Police indicated the charges will be filed in the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
